VARIOUS - Voluntary Roles
Voluntary work is part of our vision to ensure we offer opportunities to those who can add value to the work that we do to support vulnerable children and their support network. Having voluntary work on your CV can enhance your opportunities and is often seen as an additional strength to your continued professional development and training. Voluntary roles come in all shapes and sizes, some very structured, and other voluntary roles are much more flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of all concerned. Finally, taking on a voluntary role can often lead to excellent further paid career opportunities within our organisation, as well as being seen as something that is done for kindness and 'a sense of ‘giving something back’.
We have various voluntary ideas and roles available, and are open to new ideas - so if you’d like to get involved, do contact us.
Some of the roles were have available are (and not limited to):
Directors to develop different area’s of the organisation - Whether an interest in home schooling, fostering, advocacy, mentoring, alternative provision, we are open minded to how our organisation will develop a full range of wrap around services to support our South West service users.

Advocate - You will have experience of working with vulnerable children with a passion for making sure a young person’s voice is heard.
EPIC Listener - You will be experienced in supporting vulnerable children or/and those who support them. You may have experience in supporting vulnerable adults.
Counsellors/Therapists - You may be interested in supporting young people or adults, or both.
Social Workers - You may be interested in supporting foster parents, or assessing newbies, or perhaps you’d like to join our advisory board.

ADVISORY BOARD MEMBERS - Voluntary Roles
The EPIC Family Community Interest Company is looking to appoint a voluntary Independent Advisory Board to advise and make recommendations to the Board of Directors and in particular to be a sounding board to the Board of Directors Chair & CEO. The advice given is to ensure that the Community Interest Company plans and delivers on its vision, mission, and values. The Advisory Board is required to give advice and recommendations helping steer the organisation.
The Advisory Board (AB), should comprise a range of members with varied skills in Social Care, Strategic Planning, Finance, Business, and Childrens Services such as Education, Child Healthcare, and other roles as deemed appropriate such as being involved at a senior level/trustee level of charities and/or other community interest organisation(s).
We welcome enquiries where you have experience and an understanding of strategy, vision, and development. You’re able work effectively as part of a small team and have experience of being independent and therefore able to speak up without influence from another organisation or individual. It is essential that you have a good, strong understanding of the needs of vulnerable children & young people, as well as the struggles that supporters/carers of such people face.

CARE EXPERIENCED INDEPENDENT PANEL MEMBER - Self Employed Role
As part of our intention to register EPIC Fostering as a South West based Independent Fostering service, we are currently recruiting for a Care-Experienced Independent Panel Member.
The Panel will be made up of a broad range of experienced members and not limited to: Care Experienced Member(s), Social Worker(s), Education Professional(s), Foster Parent(s), Adoptive Parent(s). We welcome applications from a diverse range of individuals who have knowledge and/or experience of therapeutic parenting styles and trauma-informed practice.
The role requires a huge amount of reading, excellent communications skills, and the ability to contribute to Panel discussions in an open, honest, collaborative way. You must be able to come to your own recommendations, justifying your reasoning behind your recommendation(s).
Our Panel’s are held on Microsoft Teams, and are scheduled to be held on regular Wednesdays. Panel will start at 9:30am prompt. Payments start at £60 per case, with up to a maximum of 5 on a day, (though usually capped at 4). Safer recruitment processes apply and will include enhanced DBS checks and references.

SERVICE SUPPORT OFFICER - Full Time - Salary from £23810+ DOE - Vacancy Filled Pending Checks
As part of our intention to register EPIC Fostering as a South West based Independent Fostering Service, we are currently recruiting for a Full Time Service Support Officer to support the administrative function of the organisation..
The role of the Service Support Officer (SSO) is to provide a comprehensive administrative support to colleagues within The EPIC Family CIC. The SSO will support the Directors, and Managers to establish and maintain accurate and up to date data. The SSO will work closely with the CEO and COO to ensure that the most effective procedures and processes are in place across our services.
Experience in a service support role is advantageous as is experience of developing new services. Applicants must be exceptionally IT literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, along with significant confidence and abilities in the use of recording/database software. Applicants will have good listening and communicating skills both verbal and written. We’re looking for candidates with an empathic approach, who are flexible, adaptable to change, able to remain calm under pressure and able to work to deadlines. Candidates should have an appreciation of the effect of separation and loss on children, as well as an awareness of the richness of different kinds of families and their potential for meeting the needs of children and young people.
